KyungJu Byun is a graduate of the Seoul National University in Korea, where she received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. After she had performed as a professional collaborative pianist for a few years, she continued her study on keyboard collaboration with Dr. Alan Smith at the University of Southern California where she received her Master of Music. She received Ensemble Award from the F. Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California. She is also a recipient of Gwendolyn and Adolph Koldofsky Memorial Endowed Scholarship. She has been a member of an honorary organization, Pi Kappa Lambda since 1999.
She has been actively performing as a chamber musician and collaborative pianist. She has performed a number of recitals with various instruments and vocalists at Bovard Auditorium, Zipper Hall, Alfred Newman Recital Hall, and Schoenberg Hall. She is also a member of MTAC and MTNA
